iOS Development
Looks like I’ll be doing a lot of iOS development in the coming months. I plan to use my blog to keep track of my progress as I have no experience in this. Stay tuned!
No Posts…No Thoughts
I know that this whole writing more thing isn’t going to plan…
Maybe I don’t have much to write? Must fix that!
Actually, I’ve been doing a bit with C# recently. Mostly to do with copying things (SQL, Excel) into SharePoint. This has been quite a learning curve, but also useful with the iOS development I’m doing. I’ve mostly been using the web, but also had a look at Rob Miles C# Yellow Book. It’s good!
The Big Smoke
Continuing with the photography theme. I recently took a trip to London, with the main aim of taking a few photos.
I ended up shooting more for the memories than to nail a really good photo, so I was struggling for a pick of the bunch, but finally settled on this:

I also shot in RAW for the first time (as well as JPG) so I have these stored to play with when I finally get round to buying Aperture!
I’ve also set my sights on my next lens, the well regarded Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7. Definitely the next item on my camera shopping list!
Also….2 posts in a day, getting in to this writing lark! I might write more about the trip itself in another blog post.
Programming
True to another of my resolutions, I’ve started to develop my programming skills!
I’ve settled on learning Objective-C, as I have the most scope to use this on my Mac.
After reading a lot of good things about Bucky’s tutorials, I’ve started to follow his Objective-C lessons on TheNewBoston. So far, I’ve only dipped my toes and I’m up and running with Xcode and written a simple command line app.
I hope to use this site as a reference point for myself and others looking to learn!
Making a start
Making a start on one of my aims for the year, yesterday I visited Croxden Abbey to take some photographs.
I took over a hundered photos and was pretty impressed with most of them, being the first time I’d shot with anything better than a point & shoot or my iPhone 4.
This is my favourite shot.

Quite happy with my first real shoot, a lot still to learn, but at least I’ve made a start…
